Vacuum Your Rugs Geelong!

Whilst you may vacuum your rugs roughly once a fortnight, you only need to deep clean them when they are visibly dirty. If it’s about that time, start by giving the regular once-over with the vacuum, to remove any loose dirt and dust.

Test Your Cleaner

Whether you’re using a store bought rug cleaner or a DIY concoction (add a couple of capfuls of liquid dish soap to a bucket of warm water. Do not use hot water, as it may shrink the fibres or fade the colour), you should test the cleaner first. Use on a small spot of the carpet (the part that sits under any furniture if possible) and see if it compromises the colour.

Scrub the Cleaner into the Rugs

After ten minutes of no reaction, you can go ahead and scrub the cleaner into the rug, until you see suds. Work the solution in for several minutes, or until you start to see results.

Rinse with a Hose

Hang up on your washing line and rinse off with your garden hose.

Remove Excess Water

Allow to dry for as long as you think necessary, depending on the thickness and the size of the rug. Remove any excess water with a window cleaner or a squeegee. These are surprisingly effective!

Vacuum Again

Once the process is done and your rug is dry and back on your floor, you should go over it again with the vacuum.
