FAQ's

What is Olefin?

Olefin fiber is a synthetic fiber used in outdoor umbrellas, shade material, outdoor cushions and also known to be used in wallpaper, carpeting, ropes, and vehicle interiors. Olefin's advantages are its strength, colourfastness and comfort, its resistance to staining, mildew, abrasion, sunlight and its good bulk and cover.

What is polypropylene?

Polypropylene, like other plastics, typically starts with the distillation of hydrocarbon fuels into lighter groups called “fractions” some of which are combined with other catalysts to produce plastics.

  • It possesses high flexural strength because of its semi-crystalline nature
  • It has a low coefficient of friction • It is very resistant to moisture
  • It has good chemical resistance over a wide range of bases and acids
  • It possesses good fatigue resistance • It has good impact strength

What is polyethylene?

Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer with variable crystalline structure. Polyethylene, like other plastics, starts with the distillation of hydrocarbon fuels (ethane in this case) into lighter groups called “fractions” some of which are combined with other catalysts to produce plastics.

  • Useful properties. Poly(ethene) is water resistant, durable and is of a low density.
  • The polymer can be reused after intial use, as bin liners and shopping bags.
  • Poly(ethene) can be burned to provide a source of energy as heating for buildings.
  • Poly(ethene) bags can be recycled. An example would be milk bottle crates.
