Handy tips to on how refresh your outdoor area!

If your outdoor space is still in a state of hibernation since last year, or in desperate need of a make over, we have outlined a few simple tips below that can spruce up your outdoor area.

So maybe your outdoor space isn't the definition of an outdoor oasis, well that's fine! Being the middle of Summer and with still a few more months of summer outdoor gatherings and lounging to come, there IS still time to get your outdoor space in tip-top shape.  No matter what your backdrop is, there are some simple things you can do to make it feel that way.

A rug here, some potted plants there, a wall print or even some scatter cushions; you'll be surprised at how quickly your outdoor space will take shape!

Cleaning and de-cluttering your outdoor space is always a good way to start.  If you have decking, give the area a spray with a water blaster to remove any grime and debris, then apply a coat of quick-drying stain or durable paint for a nice freshen up.

Simply dressing up your outdoor table or lounge setting with accessories can make a big impact. Outdoor cushions, rugs and throws can add some colour, comfort, luxury and will change up your outdoor space instantly.

Breathe some life into your space with some large potted plants or hanging plants, this will make your area more inviting.  Add some flowers or small potted plants to your dining or lounge coffee table as an alternative.  If you're not great like me at keeping them alive, opt for the faux variety!

Outdoor lanterns and candles can add some ambience and interest, if you have an undercover area think about dressing it and styling it much like you would your indoor area.  Bring some of your indoor styling through to your outdoor space.
Hanging chairs are a really a fun piece of functional furniture to add any outdoor area. They immediately give any space a total holiday vibe.  Even a small patio, deck or backyard could accommodate one.

Depending on whether your outdoor space is undercover, add some wall art, wall hangings, prints or mirrors.  Wall art draws the eye, pulls together space, and makes your space inviting. Make use of mirrors to reflect and make the area look larger.  Play with texture and colour in wall art, furniture, and accessories. Buying pieces made from mixed materials like wood and metal in particular are great for completely exposed outdoor spaces.
